Olivyah Bowens  is a birth educator, mother of two, a doula, birth photographer and an advocate for womens maternal health and wellbeing. Through her popular Instagram feed @herholisticpath she guides women to prepare for the best births they can. Here she speaks honestly about her own unplanned pregnancies, births, and the shortcomings of the medical system.

She honestly shares about the challenges of modern motherhood without the support of a village and the ways she supports herself to keep learning and growing through it.  I really loved this conversation, Olivyah is so honest about her journey and the issues she has with the spiritual and wellness industries. She is so passionate and there is so much wisdom as well as practical tips in here. Enjoy!

Themes:

  • We’re always being persuaded. Everything is making this imprint on our minds and affecting how you think and pregnant people are really open to being persuaded and manipulated.
  • We manifest disease in the body because we’re sick in the mind.
  • The wellness community and spiritual community are becoming really elitist. We’ve Inadvertently commercialised wellness.
  • Parenting as a power struggle or being the no police is too draining.
  • It’s not about what we want it’s about what we’re teaching our children.
  • We’ve romanticised the damaging of our children.
  • Let’s demand a beautiful birth experience.
  • Second time around it felt so good to birth a baby without it being a traumatising experience.
  • We need to put birthing people at the centre of medical care.
  • By the time I leave this planet I want birth to look completely different.
