Dr. Kimani Borland is a Naturopathic Doctor, qualified Vinyasa, and Kemetic Yoga teacher, and mother to two sons. She was born and raised in a Rasta family in Jamaica, graduated from Stanford University, and currently runs a practice in Jamaica, where she specializes in an Integrative approach to wellbeing, using herbs, nutrition, lifestyle & perspective shifts.

I loved speaking and learning more from Dr. Kimani in this conversation. We have a lot in common and although it was our first time connecting, I felt like I’d found a long lost friend. She’s humble and honest and speaks candidly about the initiation of becoming a mum for the first time at 21 and her experiences of having two very different cesarean births.

She reflects on the philosophies and foundations that set her in good stead along her path and the struggles as well as triumphs along the way. We talk about the reality for many women living in Jamaica and the Caribbean and what personally motivates her to keep going. I know her insights and assuring wisdom in this conversation will uplift you.

“The approach of just keeping it so real is literally medicine for people because that’s what we need right now. Like, ain’t nobody got time for the facade. It’s being super compassionate and excited and giving the whole beautiful impression of how amazing motherhood is and lalalalala, and then the other side of it, that’s also really important.”
