In this conversation I invite Shola to unpack the chakra system to learn how they really affect us and we talk about the effects birth can have on the root chakra and ways we can energetically balance after motherhood. I hope you enjoy.
Themes:
- Chakras are the inner rainbow – we know those colours and actually just on that level, which is a kind of fairly superficial way of looking at chakras, but it’s still useful.
- Energetically, things are never going to be the same again, you’re welcoming this new soul. And there’s that whole journey that kind of stepped down journey through the chakras.
- So that is just so it’s so important to really honour as a mother, your own space.
- Children from really quite early can have a language in terms of chakras, to explain emotions and feelings and different things that they can do when they feel different things that relate to chakras.
- Just choose one thing to do from your list.
- Alot of things that we do with the root chakra are literally on the earth, you know, so they’re actually outside in nature.
- I think that kind of real honouring of change and major transition in your journey as we go through, from being pregnant to becoming a parent is really important.
- Connection through the womb to your mother, and taking us all the way back to Mother Earth herself.

“”The other side of liberation is responsibility. So in some instances It would be easier for me to say to my kid, “because I said so shut up, keep it moving.” You know, like that would be easier. But because we’re doing liberation work, I have to swallow that. If I want to raise a black woman who doesn’t internalise her own degradation, then I cannot say that I love her, and then equally control her because I’m the person in power. I got to do the harder work and say, why I’m upset and have a real conversation and develop a real relationship. That’s harder. 100% “
